No More Arthritic Pain

"Dear Mr. Armstrong:

"I received the anointed handkerchief
for the healing of my arthritis. which I
have had for more than 20 years, It has
deformed and crooked five of my fingers.
My right shoulder was getting almost
useless at times, and of late has ached
and pained day and night, interfering

As I approached the wretched man groaning on the sidewalk with his
andas cupped in his hands, I noticed that he had fallen into a pile of
gobar. I helped him up gently and he thanked me – introducing himself
simply at JM.  JM smelled of gobar naturally and had to be hosed down
at the nearest hand pump.

Cleaned up like an angel, the bearded and wild eyed JM could almost
pass for a habshi. Was he in fact descended from habshis in the employ
of the Nawab of Oudh or was he simply spending a lot of time in the
sun – following the dictates of Gandhi ji – is hard to say.
Nevertheless the fanatical gleam in his eyes was unsettling to say the
least. Fortified by a strong chai, JM launched into his diatribe
against Sir Stafford Cripps. Sir Stafford, as you well know, was a
great friend of India and Indian self rule. A fellow leftist like
Nehru and a New Ager like Gandhi – the man was obviously befuddled by
the antics of his supposed friends Gandhiji and Nehruiji. Of course
Gandhiji was enjoying the jail with his goat and fresh oranges while
JM was getting literally raped by the police. I tried explaining to
him that as a high school student I had read some history and
newspapers and he was obviously being misled. JM lit up like a fuse
and accused me of treachery – he started taking down some notes and
promised to publish an attack on me in a letter to editor of the
newsletter of Gadha (Great And Devout Humanist Association). Naturally
I was alarmed and cowed – only later would I face his wrath on a wider
forum as he complained to the net administrator and published IP
addresses.

As he got up to leave, without thanking me for hosing the gobar off of
him, he pointed a bony finger at me. “You British stooges will be
punished once India gains independence and becomes a British dominion
on June 14, 1961 with Nehruji as Governor General”, he screeched….
